Lahore Qalandars secure 2nd on PSL Points Table After Crush Multan

Lahore Qalandars became the first team to beat Multan Sultans during the 7th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Lahore have moved up to second place on the PSL points table and appear likely to be in their place in the PSL play-offs for a second consecutive time. While, Multan sit comfortably at the top of the table, despite losing the match.

Lahore started the Lahore leg with a bang as their batsmen continued their impressive streak of form. Opening batsman Fakhar Zaman was as impressive as ever as he racked up his fourth half-century of the contest. Veteran middle order batter Mohammad Hafeez provided the fireworks in the final stretch of the innings, allowing the Qalandars score an impressive 182/4 score in the scoreboard.

The batting of Multan Sultans was also struggling in the very first game in this season. Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan took a risk and the remaining batsmen followed in the same way, without causing any trouble to them or the Qalandars bowlers. Multan were eventually dismissed for 130 , losing the game with 52 runs.

Fakhar Zaman won the honour of being named the player of the match due to his 60 runs out of 37.

Lahore Qalandars will face Multan Sultans in the 17th game in the PSL 2022 on the Friday 11 February. The match, to be played at the Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, will start at 7:15 pm PKT.

Multan Sultans have all but been selected to play in Multan Sultans have all but qualified for PSL 7 playoffs, having won their first six games during the campaign. Lahore Qalandars on the opposite side, are everything to lose when they play their rivals the Janoobis with a high-octane match in front of a huge home crowd. If they win, Lahore will propel them ahead of Islamabad in second place and they’ll remain at the third spot should Multan win their seventh win in a row during the tournament.

Lahore Qalandars are among the most thrilling teams to watch during this tournament to date. Their explosive batting unit , led by a top-of-the-line Fakhar Zaman, and their top-of-the-line bowling squad comprised of Rashid Khan, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf make them among the most dangerous teams in the tournament. They’ll be determined to get back on track quickly following their loss to Quetta in their previous game and will also get an extra boost by playing in front of their own home crowd.

Overall, both sides have met 10 times during the tournament. Sultans are ahead since they have won six times while Qalandars have scored 4. They last played each one during PSL 7 on January 29th, 2022 at the National Stadium Karachi. Multan took the victory by five wickets.
